A world-class music event awaits Ruse residents and guests of the city during the 61st edition of the International Festival "March Music Days" this year!
On Wednesday, March 16, at 7 pm in the Revenue Building, Ruse State Opera will present the premiere of its new large-scale production - Giuseppe Verdi's opera Ernani, which the audience in the Danube city will see for the first time in a stage performance.
Two days later, on March 18, the performance will be presented in Hall One of the National Palace of Culture, and on March 25 the audience in the Romanian capital will have the opportunity to enjoy it.
The conductor of the show is one of the leading tenors in the world of classical music, the world's singing marvel - José Cura. Over the years, he has successfully combined the work of the conductor's podium with his remarkable vocal performance. His innate musical flair led him to sculpt original interpretations as a conductor.
It is expected that the production, with the participation of José Cura together with the Ruse Opera, Verdi's less frequently performed opera Ernani will go down in world music history.
The world-famous Bulgarian opera artist Orlin Anastasov will direct the long-awaited event. In the last few seasons, the famous Bulgarian bass is increasingly sought after by various European theaters as a director, with which he manages to share his creative experience carefully collected during his international career on the world opera stages. Loyal to the Ruse Opera House where he began his successful artistic career, Orlin Anastasov realized his fifth production of the Ruse Opera after Il tovatore, Masked Ball, Barber of Seville and Lucia di Lammermoor, whose success was enthusiastically welcomed by audiences and music critics.
The entire artistic design of the new production of Ernani is entrusted to the young set designer Denis Ivanov. His large-scale creative project is impressive with the authenticity of the transformation of the historical period of the development of dramatic action. The scenography complements the feeling of the era, and the presence of over 200 costumes on stage is a beautiful challenge - both for the senses of the audience and for the high professionalism of the art studios of the Ruse Opera.
The Swiss graduate Viliana Valcheva will act as an assistant conductor of the performance. The Choirmaster will be Steliana Dimitrova with choreography by Detelina Kremakova. Also participating are the soloists, choir, ballet and orchestra of the State Opera - Ruse, together with the mixed choir "Danube Sounds".
In his work on Ernani, Verdi showed his new creative approach to the creation of opera - the desire to bring the musical performance as close as possible to the principles of dramatic theater. It's first performance was on March 9, 1844, at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice.
In Bulgaria, the opera was first staged at the end of the 19th century, in 1892, in the opera department of the Tear and Laughter Drama Theater.
